"Panel members ages 2 and older." This was truly a survey done from 2 years old and up.

What the heck does a 2 year old does even with a Wii? Let alone a 360 or PS3. "Ooops, the kid managed to put a cheese slice in the disk tray."

"is that the same thing as saying 38 ps3's crunched more numbers that 225 pc's? or is there an actual difference?"

Answer: NO

"38 thousand active PS3 consoles reached 1.08 PetaFLOPS. In comparison, the combined performance of nearly 225,000 Windows PCs only scored 213 TeraFLOPS.""

38 PS3 = 1.08 TeraFlop
225 PC = .212 TeraFlop
So actually, 38 PS3 does as much calculation as 1000 PCs

You must not use a PC running Windows to write stupid things like that, otherwise, you would run out of bookmarks for those updates fixing updates!!

DirectX: Tons of updates between the all the major updates
Windows Explorer: ooops
Windows Office: ouch
Windows Media Player: Don't even talk about it
Windows Genuine Advantage: Heck, they even managed to screw that up too
And the list goes on. They literally invented the Service Packs to save us time....

Wow, an article showing how to prolong the life of the PS3, yet, they show a fan blowing the HOT air BACK INTO the PS3... Yes, he is showing the air flow correctly (yellow arrow), so if you would like to "help" the PS3, the fan is backward...

This thing is designed well to evacuate the heat by itself. Forget extra fans, you can even forget the coke cans. Just put it where the hot air coming out of the console can get away easily. Don't squeeze it somewhere, make sure ...

Typical accepted failure rate is 3% per year!!!. Since you get YLOD for basically any faults except a dead power supply or bad BluRay, you can assume that even with a very low failure rate, they have to prove that there has been almost 600000 YLOD since launch. (Based on 1/3 of 3% per year, the other 2/3 beeing power supply and BR, and 20000000 PS3s in the field now).

Basically YLOD is like the check engine on your car. When you get it, it could be pretty much anything. So sur...

But for sure, they are looking for cheap hits. And I boycott sites looking for cheap hits...

As far as I'm concerned, they would do anything to get hits, and I'll do anything to avoid giving them what they want.

They already made their own analysis, and give the edge to the PS3 (by not much, but they did...)

Uncharted, Killzone, etc.

But wow, this is done with Unreal Engine, and people are counting pixels. This is the most impressive feat. Eidos managed to unleash to power of the Unreal Engine, on the PS3, when many other devs could not. Since so many games are made with this engine, it's a very, very good news for future ports.

Also, it does look like Batman is selling much better on the PS3 (with a lower install base), than on the 360. Another incentive that show dev...

"exceed any classification as a simple 'add-on'."

When an add-on cost more than the original product, it cannot be classified as an 'add-on'

Price of Arcade 360 before Christmas: Way below $200
Price of the 'add-on' whener it will come out: Way over $200

"What I want to know is: What game is selling along with the slim? These PS3 owners aren't just buying PS3's with no games. "

Well, from what I've read, Batman is rather popular (it was already crushing the 360 sales before the slim (except in UK), so if true, it will be interesting to see the sale for that game in a week or two). Also Uncharted is selling very well. Funnily enough, it does seem like Little Big Planet is seeing a surge as well, but it could be for two...

Comments like: "Sony was able to move to the more heat resistant 45 nanometer chip" give us a big clue... The 45 nanometer chip simply dissipate less heat, it's not more heat resistant!!!!

As far as every other part being redesigned, we are not talking about anything major and coming from outer space. BluRay drive is smaller (but dang, they have even smaller BluRay drives in laptops today!). Power supply is smaller, simply because the Cell (and RSX?) draw less power....

I thought they were all Shinto or Buddism...

If there's some peak around Chrismas in Japan, I would suspect some crazy North Americans importing them since their shelves were empty...

Unless there's a huge Wii price drop this year, and shelves are empty again in N.A., somehow, I don't think we will see this peak in Christmas 2009 japanese number. Would be curious to see if there was a peak (like in N.A.) for the 360 or the PS3 in Japan around the same time... I woul...

Also have an original 60G upgraded to 500 gig, thanks to a very nice and brand new $75 Western Digital drive from Ebay.

It's funny because before the upgrade, my 60 gig was always full. Now, I've redownloaded pretty much all the interesting demos, I have pictures, I have videos, I have Linux and there's still tons of space left. Almost feel like it was overkill. Guess I will eventually fill it one day. Bought a very cheap USB case (I think I paid $12) for the old 60gig drive, an...

Everybody here is laughing at Kotaku not whinning! Everybody know they are a joke site, just waiting for hits so they can get advertising revenue.

They had to spin this article as usual.

Lack of preparation: What, he forgot to get ready for everybody buying ALL his PS3 slims?

Lack of recognition: Good thing they didn't recognize the PS3, otherwise he would have sold them all... Ooops, h...

Why does someone has to learn to read, when obviously, the author should simply learn to write!!!!

Yes, he said: "We care about how the thing is used, not how it looks"

Yet, he had to say:
-"The device itself has the appearance of a chunky microphone with a neon coloured top, making it look like a cross between a raver’s glostick and a pervert’s sex toy."
-"So no, the laughable look of the thing isn’t what’s dampening our enthus...

Not keen on paying for stuff myself, but I love what Namco did with their Museum game. Try the demo and it does unlock some arcade cabinet for your Home space. They look neat and sure enough, if you buy the full game, you get the full game in your Home as well.

Let say they make a decent one and sell 10 thousands at $2.99. That's $30,000. Should cover the artist and programmer salary for the 7 days they had to work on it. Now, since it's great, probably a million of internet viewer will see it, here and on many other web sites including YouTube.

Now, pay for one single minute of TV advertising. Still have to pay for artists to make the ad. And I'm not even sure as many viewers will see it.

I would take the $30,000 to ofset ...

Took less than 2 minutes for me to download AND install with just plain cable internet. Sure enough, it was a few hours after the firmware came out, so maybe the bulk of downloading was over by then... Didn't took 7 days for sure! Poor guy must still be using a good old modem plugged directly on top of a telephone pole.

Even if Digital Foundry and Eurogamer look like they love the 360 more, they also did an analysis of Halo 3.

There's about 3 frames difference between Halo suppositely twiching warp speed trigger and Killzone 2. Now keep in mind that again, results are ballpark, so errors are still possible.

Basically, there would be...
